Item #70452 The Whirlpool. Aleister introduces CROWLEY, Ethel Archer., Victor B. Neuburg.
The Whirlpool.

The Whirlpool.

London: Wieland & Co., 1911. First Edition. First Edition. Hardcover. Octavo. 46pp (+ 4pp. adverts) Paper covered boards with striking tri-colour illustration. A collection of poems addressed to Victor Neuburg and other Crowley intimates. It includes an Introduction & Dedication by Crowley and a poem by Victor Neuburg. The author, Ethel Archer was a close associate of Crowley's at the time, and one of the central figures in the group involved with the publication of The Equinox series: with her husband Eugene Wieland she published a number of Crowley's works. The volume includes advertisements for "The Equinox" and other Crowley titles at rear. A touch of darkening and shelf-wear to boards but crucially the spine - which is often damaged in this fragile volume - is absolutely intact. Small blue label of the "Aries Press" (occult book publishers and distributors in the first half of the twentieth century in the US) on the half-title page. Occasional pale foxing, but overall a VG+ tight, bright, clean example of a work which due to its fragile nature is seldom enountered in such good condition as this copy. Item #70452
