Arbatel of Magick. Tome One. Isagoge.

Gillette, New Jersey: Heptangle Books, 1979. First Edition Thus. Hardcover. Octavo. xxii + 70pp. Original navy cloth with paper spine label. Rubricated title page, blue decorative borders throughout, b&w frontis. Printed letterpress. Although no print run is stated, it was undoubtedly quite small and it was one of the few Heptangle books to be reprinted. "Arbatel of Magick" is a curious work on angelic magic that was originally published in Latin at Basle in 1575 as "Arbatel de Magia Veterum." It was later translated into English by Robert Turner whose translation was first published in London in 1655. This Heptangle edition reproduces Turner's translation, along with a new forward. Published by Daniel Driscoll (1944 - 1990) whose Heptangle imprint was one of the pioneers of late twentieth century private press grimoire production. The "Arbatel" is one of the scarcer of the Heptangle publications. A little fading to the cloth (as common with this edition), tiny pin-head sized indentation to fore-edge margin of last few leaves (most people would not even notice this) else a tight, clean near Fine copy in VG+ dust jacket. (Dust jacket spine a litle darkened at spine and edges, a little light shelf-wear and a couple of tiny chips. Not clipped. Now in protective mylar sleeve). Item #70491
