Gillette, NJ: Heptangle Books, 1977. Limited Edition. Hardcover. Large Octavo. xxvi+ 112 pp. Quarter green cloth with patterned papered boards, printed paper title label on spine. The scarce first Heptangle edition, limited to 450 numbered copies. This copy is also SIGNED on the limitation page by the editor, Daniel Driscoll (1944 - 1990), whose Heptangle imprint was one of the pioneers of late twentieth century private press grimoire production. The true Heptangle First edition - letterpress with red names and titles and blue initials printed throughout. The text is Driscoll's version of "The Sworn Book of Honorius" (Liber Iuratus Honorii) one of the oldest and most important works of mediaeval magic, supposedly compiled by a group of magicians so that their work would survive them in the event of persecution. While Driscoll's version of the text has not been without its critics, the work was pioneering both in terms of making the text available in English translation, and for the production of a grimoire as a handsomely printed "object of virtu." Spine and spine edges lightly rubbed and faded, light rounding and chafing to corners, small patch of "white out" on upper edge of front blank (presumably to remove owner's details), otherwise a tight, clean VG+ copy (as often, lacking the thin, soft paper dustjacket).
