Æsch Mezareph or Purifying Fire; a Chymico-Kabalistic Treatise Collected from the Kabala Denudata of Knorr Von Rosenroth, translated by a lover of Philalethes, 1714; Preface, notes and explanations by "Sapere Aude" [ Aesch Mezareph ].

New York NY: Occult Research Press [ Samuel Weiser Publishing ], ND [ Circa 1950s ]. First EditionThus. Softcover, Small octavo. 60pp, (+ ivpp - blank). Stapled green printed card covers. A work on the "kabalistic scheme of alchymy" which survived, in fragmentary state, as part of the "Kabala Denudata" of Knorr Von Rosenroth. It was first published in 1894 as the fourth volume of the "Collectanea Hermetica" series, edited by W. Wynn Westcott (1848 – 1925), who also authored the Preface, Notes and Explanations under his magical name / motto "Sapere Aude." Westcott was of course one of the founders of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, Supreme Magus of the Societas Rosicruciana in Anglia (SRIA), and Master of Quatuor Coronati Lodge (the well-known London Masonic Lodge devoted to Masonic research). The present edition was published by "Occult Research Press" - an early imprint of what would become Samuel Weiser Publishing. Copies are seen in both green and blue wrappers - and the order of issue is not known. A much used copy, covers well worn, darkened & chipped at edges and spine, with a significant chip missing from bottom corner of front cover. The front cover also has tape repairs inside and out - vertically at mid-cover and the text block is reattached to the covers with tape at the inner margins. A couple of tiny tears and chips at page edges. "Occult Research Press" with 4th St. NYC Weiser address ink stamped to lower edge of title page. A shabby, Good only copy of an unusual edition.
