A Medieval Illuminated vellum Manuscript Leaf from a Book of Hours.
[ Italy ]: ( circa 1480 ). A single manuscript leaf: text on both sides of a 4 7/8 x 3 1/2 inch sheet of vellum, the written surface being approximately 3 7/8 x 2 1/4 inches. A leaf from an illuminated vellum manuscript Book of Hours in Latin, written in brown ink with painted capitals. Executed around 1480 in an Italian scriptorium. The vellum has the usual age toning, and a little fading and waviness. Mounted between two sheets of glass, in a double-sided 10.75 inch x 8.75 inch brown wooden frame. The frame has a little light wear, but is overall VG + condition.
