B&W Illustration & chart. The second impression of this study of the Kabbalah by Christian D. Ginsburg (1821-1914), one of the great nineteenth century scholars of the Hebrew Bible and mysticism. The work was originally published as the second part of a two-essay collection: "The Essenes, Their History & Doctrines. The Kabbalah, Its Doctrines, Development and Literature" published by Routledge and Kegan Paul, London, [1865]. Cloth at head and tail of spine rubbed and chipped, cloth rubbed through at points, and overall darkened and with a few flecks of white paint. Pages quite browned, some foxing, moreso at rear which also has creasing to a few of the final leaves. Previous owner's details blindstamped on ffep and title-page, small stamp, "Sold by / The Brotherhood of Light / Box 1525, Los Angeles, Calif." at foot of title-page.
