Leah Sublime.

Canada: 93 Publishing, 1976. First Edition. Softcover. Small Octavo. 30pp. Original thick brown card covers with fold over inner flaps coversover plain wrappers, with paper title label to front cover. Frontis sketch of Leah Hirsig by Crowley. Edition limited to 500 numbered copies, of which this is number 440. The work is Crowley's spectacularly filthy poem dedicated to Leah Hirsig. 'Against all principals, and in breach of two promises, I have sat up all night in the snows, writing a poem to Leah. One long poem - an occasional publishable line thrown in when I weakened. 7.00 am: I think I'll collect all my filth in one poem and mark it Leah in plain figures. 10.00 am: I think I did'. (From an entry in Crowley's diary for June 28, 1920.) At least half-a-dozen different editions of Leah Sublime now exist, but this is by far the best in terms of production and design. It appears to have been preceded by the 'bootleg' Sub Rosa edition by a year. This copy is from the collection of Clive Harper with his discreet book-label neatly tipped in at the rear. Harper is well- known as the bibliographer of Austin Osman Spare, for updating the Aleister Crowley bibliography in the 2011 Teitan Press collection of Gerald Yorke's writings, and as someone who has lent his expertise to numerous other publications. Small British bookseller's labels to front and rear endpapers, otherwise "As new", thus in Fine condition. Item #70869
