A Handwritten and Drawn Astrological Natal Chart, for Louis Umfraville Wilkinson Prepared by Aleister Crowley.
NP, ND (ca 1930s). A single sheet of 7 3/4 x 5 7/8 inch blue note-paper with a natal chart comprising a grid and astrological symbols etc. in black ink in Crowley's handwriting on the recto and nine lines of mathematical calculations on the verso. The recto is headed Louis Umfraville (sic) Wilkinson / 17.12.81 12.15 A.M. [the time and date of Wilkinson's death - 17 Dec. 1881]. Louis Umfreville Wilkinson (1881-1966), was an English literary figure who wrote a number of satirical autobiographical and fictional works, mostly under the pseudonym "Louis Marlow." Wilkinson was one of Aleister Crowley's closest friends, the two had an extensive correspondence, and Crowley respected Louis's literary skills to the extent that he engaged Wilkinson to prepare a popular edition of the commentaries on "Liber AL." Crowley also made Louis Wilkinson one of his executors, and it was Wilkinson who caused some uproar amongst the more excitable members of the press by reading from Crowley's "Hymn to Pan" and other of his works at the Beast's funeral. The horoscope is not dated, but Crowley typically drew up people's charts at the time of, or not long after, their first meeting, so it probably dates from the early 1930s. Guaranteed genuine (as are all items sold by us) and with a Certificate of Authenticity. Some creasing from having been folded, rust mark from paper-clip at head of page.
