On the Loose. Planetary Jouneys and Earthly Sketches.

London: The Equinox, [1910]. First Edition thus. Softcover, Small Octavo viii + 164 pp [+ 2 pp of adverts], Original red wrappers with black titling, etc to spine and front wrapper. Raffalovich was one of Crowley's closest friends and disciples until the inevitable falling out. Crowley thought very highly of Raffalovich's literary work, which he praised in his "Confessions" and published in "The Equinox" series, as well as separately under his Equinox imprint . In 1910 he brought out a "New Edition" of this collection of Raffalovich's stories, which had originally been published by Arnold Fairbairns two years earlier. There are small chips at the head and the tail of the spine, and a couple of more significant chips to the front wrapper. The corners of the first few leaves chipped and rounded. An "Aries Press" label at the base of the title-page (Aries Press were a US publisher and distributor of occult books in the first half of the twentieth century) . A tight VG or better copy. The book is genuinely scarce on account of it's fragility and will need to be treated with care if it is to remain intact. Item #70999
