A study of thunderstones: the often ancient artifacts or fossils which many cultures regarded as potent amulets. The author explores the use of thunderstones in Norse and Teutonic mythology and its survival in popular traditions of those cultures, as well as the use of the thunderstone in various times and cultures, from those of ancient Rome and Greece to the Tibetan rdor-je. Just a little light rubbing to the cloth at the spine-ends and points of the boards, edges of text block darkened, endpapers unevenly browned, owner's name blind stamped on front free endpaper, pages a little browned throughout with some very pale foxing. Overall an attractive, solid better-than-VG copy of a very scarce title (no dust jacket - probably none issued). Item #71132
