Foundations of Practical Magic. An Introduction to Qabalistic, Magical and Meditative Techniques.
Wellingborough, Northamptonshore: The Aquarian Press Limited, 1979. First Edition. Hardcover. Octavo. 160pp. Original blue cloth with gilt titling to spine, b&w charts and tables. This copy WITH ISRAEL REGARDIE'S PRIVATE BOOKPLATE pasted onto the front free end-paper. This would suggest that it was from his personal library although we have no way of verifying this and it is possible that it was added posthumously. The book comprises a collection of essays on the theory and practice of magic, revised and gathered together for the first time, drawn from Regardie's life-long study of the occult arts. It comprises the essays: "The Art & Meaning of Magic", "A Qabalistic Primer", "Meditation", "The Qabalah of Number and Meaning", "The Art of True Healing." Just a hint of rubbing to edges of boards, otherwise the binding is bright, and clean, edges of text block a bit darkened, pages lightly toned and about a dozen pages have some pencil underlining (the underlining could be erased with a little effort, but given there is a chance that it may be Regardie's - perhaps indicating passages for revision - it is probably better to leave it as is). A few mark (glue residue?) on the booklate. Thus - aside from the underlining - a tight, clean VG+ copy in a VG dust jacket: the dust jacket has light shelf-wear, and there are short pieces of transparent tape (approx. 1/2 x 1/4 inch) at the top and bottom of both flaps, and a short tear to the front flap and moderate chip from the rear flap. Not clipped. Dust jacket is now protected by a removable mylar cover. Item #71331
