Faerye Invokation. Saxon Northumbrian Faerye Invokation.
Seattle WA: Ars Obscura Book Binding, 1981. Limited Edition. Small format. (5.5 x 4 inches.) Not paginated (Approx. 66pp). Hand bound in limp leather boards; deep green calf with gilt lettering to upper cover and spine, two raised bands. Stiff green endpapers; b&w illustrations, some full page. Edition limited to 100 hand numbered copies, this being No. 66. A female-centric grimoire aimed at invoking and working with Faeryes. It purports to detail as Saxon Northumbrian tradition, passed on through generations to the "current Catted and Belled High Priestess, Cresta" who "compiled this book and also did the typography." In outline it is very similar to classic grimoires, with sections of magical tools, formulae for various operations, the creation of talismans, etc. as well as an alphabetical list of faerye names and their pronunciation. An early production by the late Joel Radcliffe and his Ars Obscura Bindery; the bindery name is imprinted in gilt on the rear pastedown. A lovely and genuinely rare little book: no copies held institutionally and rarely if ever on the market. Appears "as new". Thus clean inside & out - a tight, bright near Fine copy of a very scarce title. Item #71638
