A study by Spence written with the aim of describing and reviewing the various attempts made to explain the origin and acceptance of the belief in fairies. The author, James Lewis Thomas Chalmers Spence (1874 - 1955), was a well-known Scottish journalist, folklorist, and professional writer who penned a number of very popular works on the occult and British folk-lore traditions. Hint of fading to covers, edges of text-block a little dusty, small erasure on front paste-down (blank inside cover). Still an unusually tight, bright and clean copy jacket (lacks dust jacket).
