Maurice Nicoll (1884 – 1953) was a British psychiatrist associated with Carl Jung, and a noted Fourth Way teacher. Nicoll studied under both Petr Demianovich Ouspensky and G. I. Gurdjieff in the 1920s, and on the advice of Ouspensky founded his own study groups in England in the early 1930s. In these Nicoll sought to pass on - through a series of weekly talks - what he had learned from his teachers. These talks formed the basis of Nicoll's "Psychological Commentaries, on the Teaching of Gurdjieff and Ouspensky," the best known of his publications. There is an unfortunate large graze on the front cover of Volume I where the dust jacket has stuck to the front board and it has damaged the surface of the cloth when peeled off, some boards bumped at the corners, edges of text block darkened and with some foxing. Still overall a solid, tight, internally clean about VG + set in G+ dust jackets (dust jackets a little chipped at head of spine and points and with some light fading, price-clipped, now protected by mylar covers). LARGE and heavy set. Shipping will be at cost. Item #72109
