Hardcover, 4to, xxii + 390 pp, Contemporary gilt decorated full leather, elaborate gilt work and titling to spine, marbled endpapers, engraved portrait frontispiece, 2 folding tables and 3 folding maps with color highlights, appendix. The author was a Lieutenant Colonel of Cavalry who served in a number of the campaigns against Napoleon, and his book is generally considered to be the major contemporary source of information on the British campaign against Napoleon in Egypt. Boards chafed and all extremities chafed and rubbed with some loss to spine ends. Front hinge split and board loose, although still held by the original rope ties. Contemporary owner's name, one inch tear to one map, otherwise internals bright and fresh. All apart from hinge near VG. Item #9401
