Catalogue 196: Aleister Crowley & Associates

The catalogue consists of works relating to Aleister Crowley and his circle.  As usual it is quite a broad selection, including a number of unusual modern printings, some of which are limited editions and signed copies. There are also a number of unusual earlier items.  Amongst the latter are the first US edition of Crowley’s The Diary of a Drug Fiend (Dutton, 1923), first editions of Book 4, Parts I & II (2 Volumes: 1912 & 1913), The Tale of Archais (1898), and Carmen Saeculare (1901).  Rare ephemeral items include an envelope fragment with Crowley’s name and address in his own handwriting and a large blob of red wax impressed with his eye of Horus seal (much rare than his later Ankh-af-na-khonsu seal); and an amusing and revealing holograph list of errands which Crowley prepared for his disciple J. G. Bayley to undertake on his behalf (December 1943).
