Item #41039 The Vision and The Voice. Liber XXX Aerum Sub Figura CCCCXVIII Being of the Angels of the 30 Aethyrs. Aleister CROWLEY, The Master Therion, Frater E. N. L., Israel Regardie.

The Vision and The Voice. Liber XXX Aerum Sub Figura CCCCXVIII Being of the Angels of the 30 Aethyrs.

Barstow California. Thelema Publishing Company, 1952/ ca. 1980. First edition - Second Issue. Hardcover. Large Quarto. [vi]+ 164pp. Maroon textured cloth covered boards, with gilt titling. 2 Errata slips loosely inserted. Text duplicated from a typewritten original, so rather amateurish production values. This edition of "The Vision and the Voice" includes the first publication of Crowley's elaborate commentary on this important Enochian working. It was published by Crowley's successor Karl J. Germer, and has a pseudonymous Introduction by Crowley's former Secretary and student, Israel Regardie. On this copy the publication place "Barstow, California" on the title-page has been struck through and replaced with "October, 12 / 1952, Hampton , N.J." in the handwriting of Karl Germer's wife, Sascha, (the change reflecting Germers' move east at the time of publication). Genuinely scarce: the First Edition had a print-run that almost certainly did not exceed 100 copies. The book was originally issued in limp composite boards, with a spiral backstrip. This is one of a small number of copies (probably fewer than a dozen) that were bound up on behalf of Helen Parsons Smith from sets of loose sheets circa 1980. The binding was in maroon cloth to match the original spiral binding. Parsons Smith (1910 - 2003), was the ex-wife of both Jack Parsons and W. T. Smith, and long time member of Agape Lodge of the OTO, who later pioneered Crowley publishing in the USA in the 1970s with her own Thelema publications imprint. Page edges a little darkened, otherwise a fine copy of this scarce work. (no dustjacket - none issued). Item #41039
