Original red cloth lettered in gilt on spine, with small gilt whale design on front board. Edition limited to 1035 copies. Sixty captioned plates from drawings by Ashley, Introduction by Franklin D. Roosevelt. Cloth lightly rubbed and very slightly darkened with a few faint marks from handling, lower spine bumped, very light bump to upper spine, page edges lightly browned, light browning at inner margins of endpapers, otherwise a lovely clean VG+ copy in original paper covered slipcase with illustrated panel. Slipcase in Good condition, still sound, pictorial panel is unevenly browned, edges rubbed and a little chafed, short tears at top and bottom of open edge, some chafing to corners. Unusual to find this volume in original slipcase. Item #41817
