Fifty-one plates, including several folding. An interesting pre-Civil War book on artillery deployment and tactics. Although most of the plates are diagrams illustrating different field manouvres, others include a diagram of a cannon with "nomenclature of the parts of field guns," anonther gives view of a 24 Pdr. Howitzer, another details its gun-carriage, another its caisson, another the accompanying equipment, etc etxc. Page-edges a little darkend, some mild pale foxing to endpapers & pages, else a solid, complete VG+ copy in handsome and sturdy binding. Item #46757
