The work of John Muir (1810 -1882), a Scottish Sanskrit scholar and Indologist, is his five volume study of the most important source texts of Indian cultural and religious history, with English language translation. This, the volume is concerned with on the origin of caste, and is intended to show that it did not exist in the Vedic age. Spine ends bruised and chafed, spine darkened, boards slightly marked and darkened, bump and two small creased tears at bottom of rear board (next to spine), chip to lower corner of page one page with some loss to text.
