Item #59620 Diary of a Drug Fiend. Aleister CROWLEY.

Diary of a Drug Fiend.

New York, NY: Samuel Weiser Inc., 1970. First Edition Thus. Hardcover. Octavo. xii + 368 pp. Original brown cloth with gilt title, etc. to spine. What might be termed 'the drug culture edition' of Crowley's famous novel of addiction, magick and redemption. The book has a wonderful period design dustjacket by Kip Stagg, featuring an earilier image of an opium user sprawled on cushions behind a hookah, and some fat, distinctively 'sixties' typography. Oddly three hardcover editions of "the Drug Fiend" appeared in 1970 - the others being a joint Weiser/Dove Press edition and one by University Books - but this is certainly the least common of the three. A few faint spots to cloth, page edges a little dusty, previous owner's name on rear blank, otherwise VG+ in VG + dust jacket. ( Dust jacket lightly chafed, rubbed at edges with a few short tears and small chips, not clipped). Item #59620
