Item #60015 The Confessions of Aleister Crowley. An Autohagiography. Aleister CROWLEY, John Symonds, Kenneth Grant.

The Confessions of Aleister Crowley. An Autohagiography.

London: Jonathan Cape, 1969. First edition thus. Hardcover. Large octavo. 960pp. Original quarter black cloth with grey papered boards, gilt title, etc. to spine, illustrations. Crowley had originally intended that his "Confessions" would be published in six volumes, but only two of these had been published before the Great Depression and various internal disputes led to the demise of the publishers. The project languished uncompleted throughout Crowley's lifetime, and it was not until 1969 that the Confessions were issued in a single volume abridged edition, edited by John Symonds and Kenneth Grant. This is the first edition of that work. Still one of the major biographical sources on Crowley, and essential to an understanding of his life and magick. Boards a bit rubbed and faded at all edges, upper board very lightly bowed, upper front corner bumped and heavily chipped, page edges and endpapers darkened and foxed, gift note on front blank, some very light scattered foxing and browning but text clean. Overall a tight near VG copy in Good dust jacket (Dust jacket browned and chafed at all edges and folds, laminate lifting a bit at spine ends which are lightly chipped, price clipped)., Item #60015
