Item #60195 The Book of the Law [technically called Liber AL vel Legis sub figura CCXX as delivered by XCIII=418 to DCLXVI]. Aleister CROWLEY, signed J. Edward Cornelius.

The Book of the Law [technically called Liber AL vel Legis sub figura CCXX as delivered by XCIII=418 to DCLXVI].

Berkeley, CA: [Thelema Lodge] OTO, 1977. First Edition Thus. Softcover. Small octavo. (5.43 x 4 inches) (ii) 50pp (+ iv - blanks). Blue stapled wrappers, with "THE BOOK / OF THE LAW" above an A.: A.: seal. printed in red on the upper wrapper. The "Thelema Lodge edition." This edition was published by Hymenaeus Alpha 777 (Grady Louis McMurtry) to coincide with the foundation in the San Francisco Bay Area of Thelema Lodge () in October, 1977 (Thelema Lodge served as Grand Lodge of the Ordo Templi Orientis until shortly after McMurtry's death in 1985). The title page reads: "THE BOOK OF THE LAW / [technically called / LIBER / AL vel / LEGIS / SUB FIGURA / CCXX / AS DELIVERED BY / XCIII=418 / to / DCLXVI] / An LXXIII Sol in Scorpio, 1977 e.v. / Privately printed by the O.T.O. / P.O. Box 2303, Berkeley, CA 94702" Aside from the change to the last three lines of the title page, a variance in the pagination caused by the insertion of a blank prior to the second chapter of the text of "The Book of the Law," and the restoration of the words "Democracy Dodders" to the Introduction, the text appears to be reproduced directly from the corrected 1942 US edition, with the same sequence of Introduction, text of "The Book of the Law" (Liber CCXX), "Tunis Comment," and "O.T.O." notice. This copy formerly the property of J. Edward (Jerry) Cornelius, friend, student and later biographer of Grady McMurtry. Cornelius was then Lodge Master of Brocken Mt. Lodge, Ordo Templi Orientis, in Connecticut and his ownership signature, "93", and year of acquisition "1977" are written alongside the ink stamp of the Brocken Mt. Lodge on the first blank. Covers rubbed and slightly darkened, edges and corners lightly chafed, page edges thumbed, slight damp mark to fore-edge of first dozen or so leaves, pages lightly browned. Still overall a sound near VG copy. Item #60195
