James Hervey Hyslop, (1854 – 1920) was a psychologist, and a psychical researcher as well as teaching ethics and logic at Columbia University. He was the secretary-treasurer of the American Society for Psychical Research for 15 years - and wrote a number of books and essays on psychical research. In this work he offers an overview of historical and contemporary attitudes to the idea of life after death, as well as examining its practical, scientific and philosophical implications. Cloth a bit rubbed and darkened overall - more so at spine where gilt lettering is quite dulled, very slightly shaken. Spine ends and corners bumped and chafed, page edges darkened and dusty, pencilled ownership marks on front endpaper, bookshop sticker rear pastedown. Still overall a clean near VG copy.
