"Temperance" was first published in 1939 and is a collection of five poems each with individual dedication: including one for Deidre McAlpine (mother of Aleister Ataturk), one for Augustus John and one for Frieda Harris. It has been eloquently described by Timothy d'Arch Smith as "a collection of drinking-songs dedicated to the teetotal Lady Astor." This undated facsimile edition was published anonymously in England in 1971. From the collection of English bibliophile and Aleister Crowley scholar Nicholas Bishop-Culpeper, with his book-label loosely tipped in at rear. Very light rubbing to edges else a tight, clean near Fine copy. Item #62468
