The Celestial Ship of the North ( Two Volumes ).

New York: National Extension University, 1927. First Edition. Hardcovers. Octavos. Two volumes (complete) in slipcase. Vol. I: xx + 254pp.; Vol. II: xii + 274pp. Black cloth gilt-lettered on spines, gilt boat design on front boards. B&w illustrations, index and glossary. "Astrology and astronomy, esoteric and exoteric knowledge of the heavenly bodies or entities, have lain at the generating heart of every great religion that has waxed and waned upon earth in accordance with cyclical celestial law" (from the Foreword by 'S.E.D.'). The author draws from the insights of Gerald Massey, Alvin Boyd Kuhn, and others in a study that blends religion, symbolism, mythology, astrology, and Egyptology, and much else. Chapter headings: Vol. 1, Book I: The Dawn of Divine Conception; The Mother of Mystery; The Land of Light, It is in the Mystical We have the True, Dualities, The Garden of the Beautiful, The Sacred Four, The Tree, Festivals of Fire, Celestial Waters, Celestial Origin of Jewish Race and Hebrew Language-Seven, Ten, and Twelve, Heavenly Measures, Messengers of the Eternal, The Keeper of the Supernal Treasures of Knowledge and Wisdom, Transcendent Forces, The Eye of the Gods, Light that Shineth in the Darkness, The Bridge, Saturn, Sut or Saturn the first Celestial Hero, Golden Age of Mythology, Our Age of the Golden Calf, The Sevens; The Counselor, The Bowman of the Gods, The Ship of Life, The Herald of Light, Guardians of the Super Realms, The Circle of Necessity, What I Tell You in the Dark, Speak in the Light. The book seems to have been privately published by the author, but appears under at least three different publisher's imprints: National Extension University (as this set), International Textbook Press, and Albert & Charles Boni, all with the copyright year 1927 - presumably these were all the same sets of sheets, but with different title-pages. We have been unable to determine precedence of issue - if indeed they were not issued simultaneously. Very light rubbing and a few faint marks to cloth, spine ends lightly bruised and chafed, page edges a bit darkened and lightly foxed, owner's penciled name etc on front blanks - else internally clean and unmarked. Overall a tight, bright VG+ set housed in a Good example of the scarce original cardboard slipcase which is quite worn and chafed. Item #62939
