The text is Driscoll's version of "The Sworn Book of Honorius" (Liber Iuratus Honorii) one of the oldest and most important works of mediaeval magic, supposedly compiled by a group of magicians so that their work would survive them in the event of persecution. While Driscoll's version of the text has not been without its critics, the work was pioneering both in terms of making the text available in English translation, and for the production of a grimoire as a handsomely printed object of virtu. Cloth spine is sunned, old NYC Weiser label on front pastedown, a little light foxing to page fore-edge, endpapers unevenly browned. Still, overall- a tight bright near Fine copy (no dust jacket).
