Item #64824 Through the Gates of Death. Dion Fortune, Violet M. Firth.

Through the Gates of Death.

London: Inner Light Publishing Society, ND [ 1932 ]. First Edition. Hardcover. Small otavo. 96pp. Quarter grey cloth with brown papered boards, printed paper labels on spine and upper board. The first edition of Dion Fortune's study of death and dying, from the time and manner of death, the process and ritual of dying, to communication with the dead. As might be expected from Fortune, it offers an unusual perspective, being drawn from both psychological and esoteric theory. From the collection of Clive Harper with his discrete book-label neatly tipped in at the rear. Harper is well-known as the bibliographer of Austin Osman Spare, for updating the Aleister Crowley bibliography in the 2011 Teitan Press collection of Gerald Yorke's writings, and as someone who has lent his expertise to numerous other publications. Boards and spine a bit darkened and discoloured (as common), damp mark to upper edge of both covers, light bumping and rubbing to extremities, paper toned, bookshop sticker on front pastedown, but still a tight and unmarked VG copy. No dust jacket. Item #64824
