The Pymander of Hermes [ The Divine Pymander ]; [ Collectanea Hermetica, Vol. II ]

London: Theosophical Publishing Society, 1894. First Edition Thus. Hardcover. Small octavo. 118pp. Original royal blue cloth, with gilt titling across the front board. The second volume of the "Collectanea Hermetica" series, of which Westcott was the series editor, as well as a contributor to this particular volume. In this volume Westcott reprints John Everard's 1650 translation into English of the Corpus Hermeticum, entitled "The Divine Pymander in XVII Books," along with a thoughtful Preface by himself. William Wynn Westcott (1848 – 1925), was of course one of the founders of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, Supreme Magus of the Societas Rosicruciana in Anglia (SRIA), and Master of Quatuor Coronati Lodge (the well-known London Masonic Lodge devoted to Masonic research). Corners and spine ends bumped and chafed, a bit of rubbing and a few light bumps to edges, small chip to spine cloth at mid-front gutter, endpapers cracked at inner margins buthinges tight, pages toned and have scattered pencil underlining throughout, several gatherings a little proud. Obviously used, but still a Good copy of this scarce first edition. Item #65001
