Item #65014 Gems From The Equinox. Edited, a, Israel Regardie.

Gems From The Equinox.

St. Paul, MN: Llewellyn Publications, 1974. First Edition. Hardcover. Thick octavo. 1134pp. Red faux leather with silver embossed cover and spine. Illustrations. The first edition of Regardie's selection of Crowley's most important writings - 'all the magical writings' including of course Liber CCXX, "The Book of the Law" - from the monumental "Equinox" series. The book was published at a time when Crowley's magical writings were unavailable to most: the ten volume "Equinox" set had only been republished by Weiser for the first time two years earlier, and was difficult to find and beyond the budget of most. "Gems" along with the reprints of "Magick in Theory Practice," became one of the core resources for the emerging new generation of Thelemites in the 1970s. From the collection of Clive Harper with his discrete book-label neatly tipped in at the rear. Harper is well-known as the bibliographer of Austin Osman Spare, for updating the Aleister Crowley bibliography in the 2011 Teitan Press collection of Gerald Yorke's writings, and as someone who has lent his expertise to numerous other publications. The label can easily be removed without affecting the page, although it would be a shame not to preserve this record of the book's provenance. Very light rubbing to covers and bruising to points, light warp to upper board, page edges darkened, else a tight, clean VG+ copy. (no dust jacket issue). Large heavy book - may required additional shipping. Item #65014
