A collection of 5 booklets published by the Unicorn Press in the 1970s: "The Dangers of Mysticism + Liber HHH", "The Soldier and the Hunchback", "Liber I vel Magi + Liber Israfel + Liber Stellae Rubae", "A Brief Abstract of the Symbolic Representation of the Universe derived by Doctor John Dee through the Scrying of Sir Edward Kelly", AND "The Handbook of Geomancy"

Seattle, WA: Unicorn Press, ND [ circa 1970s ]. First Editions Thus. Softcovers. Octavo. Five booklets. Bound in matching pale grey wrappers illustrated and titled in dark blue on front and rear covers, text and illustrations also in dark blue. The group comprises: "The Dangers of Mysticism + Liber HHH", 16pp; "The Soldier and the Hunchback", 24pp; "Liber I vel Magi + Liber Israfel + Liber Stellae Rubae", 20pp; "A Brief Abstract of the Symbolic Representation of the Universe derived by Doctor John Dee through the Scrying of Sir Edward Kelly", 24pp, illustrations; and "The Handbook of Geomancy", 28pp, illustrations. Although the rear covers have the imprint "Unicorn: Seattle" the booklets were actually produced by the avante-garde Unicorn Bookshop of Brighton, England, who were also the ones behind the piratical "'Booklegger Albion" imprint ['Booklegger" = "Bootlegger", "Albion" = "England" in other words published by an English Pirate of Books!]. The obsfucation was necessary as at the time questions regarding the Crowley copyright were very much unresolved. We believe these are all published in this matching series of reprints from "The Equinox." From the collection of Clive Harper with his discreet book-label neatly tipped in at the rear of each issue. Harper is well- known as the bibliographer of Austin Osman Spare, for updating the Aleister Crowley bibliography in the 2011 Teitan Press collection of Gerald Yorke's writings, and as someone who has lent his expertise to numerous other publications. Covers slightly darkened with a bit of light rubbing to edges, a few bumped corners, penciled prices, bookseller's labels or label shadows. Still a tight, clean VG+ set with all in volumes in much better condition they are usually encountered. Most unusual as a set. Item #65825
