London: William Rider, 1910. First US Edition. Softcover. Large octavo. (iv adverts) 60pp. (viii adverts) Printed orange wrappers. B/w illustrations. A single issue of "The Occult Review", which for the best part of 40 years, starting in 1905, was the most significant occult journal in the English-speaking world, attracting contributions by almost every significant author in the field. This US edition of "The Occult Review" has the same orange wrappers as the British, but with the price on the front cover in cents rather than pence. The US edition appeared exactly one month after the British, so the contents of this issue as the same as the December, 1909 British issue. This issue includes the first (US) publication of Waite's "The Tarot: A Wheel of Fortune" in which he discusses his forthcoming book "The Key to the Tarot" and the soon-to-be-released deck on which he collaborated with Pamela Coleman Smith. The essay includes 13 reproductions of designs from the deck (four of which are full page) which likely represent the first (and without doubt one of the earliest) publications of the images in the USA. Other contents: Notes of the Month, by the Editor; Spontaneous Phenomena by Reginald B Span; After Death - What? by Envoy by Gascoigne Mackie; Vampires and Vampirism by Owen Prothero; Correspondence; Periodical Literature etc. plus letters, reviews, etc. Edges of wrappers creased & faded, spine chipped, owner's name on front wrapper, tear across back wrapper closed on inside with archival tissue-tape, wrapper starting to separate. Overall a solid, internally-clean G+ copy, in relatively typical condition for this fragile journal. Item #66278
