Dagon, Special Issue, No. 17. The Cthulhu Mythos and the Occult, April - May 1987. For readers of the Cthulhu Mythos and players of 'Call of Cthulhu'.

Middlesex UK: Carl Ford, 1987. First Edition. Softcover. Octavo. 50pp. Glossy white stapled wrappers lettered and illustrated in b&w on covers. Dagon started out as a gaming magazine that published some fiction but blossomed into a journal of all things Lovecraftian, fiction and non-fiction. This special issue on "The Cthulhu Mythos and the Occult" includes the essays "H. P. Lovecraft as 'Occultist' - An Exploration" by Leigh Blackmore; "The Prophets of Pandemonium - Arthur Machen and H. P. Lovecraft" by Mark Valentine; "Was There a Real Brown Jenkin" by Will Murray; "Lovecrafts Use of Theosophy" by Robert M. Price; "Lovecraft, The Golden Dawn and Enochian Chess" by Steve Nichols; etc. The content is largely Lovecraft related rather than Necronomicon specific! This copy from the collection of Clive Harper with his discreet book-label neatly tipped in at the rear. Harper is well- known as the bibliographer of Austin Osman Spare, for updating the Aleister Crowley bibliography in the 2011 Teitan Press collection of Gerald Yorke's writings, and as someone who has lent his expertise to numerous other publications. Light rubbing and a few light creases, upper corner bumped, else a tight, clean VG+ copy. Item #66531
