The first republication of Guthrie's 1917 collection of the surviving fragments of the works of Numenius, with his translations and a foreword by Michael Wagner. Whilst it has all of Guthrie's text and translations, this edition does not include his commentaries on the fragments that appeared in the original. Scottish born Kenneth Sylvan Launfal Guthrie (1871-1940), philosopher and writer, who issued a series of translations of ancient philosophical writers, "making available to the public the neglected treasures of Neo-platonism". Among his works was a translation of the complete works of Plotinus (1918), "The Pythagorean Source Book and Library", and "The Alexandrian Philo Judaeus: The Platonizing Hebraist's Complete Message". Guthrie was described by Manly Palmer Hall as a "brilliant but eccentric scholar". Appears unread, a tight, unmarked near Fine copy (no dust jacket - as issued?). Item #66779
