Seattle WA: Trident Books, 1997. First Edition Thus - Limited. Hardcover. Small octavo. xiv + 116pp. Original full black leather with raised bands and gilt titling to spine. Housed in custom black cloth slipcase. The edition deluxe of the first revised Trident Press edition of this classic grimoire. The edition was limited to 500 numbered copies, which were bound variously in cloth, part leather, or full-leather. This copy, no. 50, is the full leather edition in slip-case, which was the deluxe and most expensive form issued although all editions are now quite scarce. The text itself is from the 1657, but with revisions and corrections by Robert Turner and, more recently, James Banner. The grimoire itself apparently dates from the thirteenth century and is one of the core texts of 'Solomonic' magick. It basically sets out a magical ritual, with orations and words of power. It is said that their recitation leads not only to mystic unity, but can also bestow all manner of knowledge and other earthly boons. There are always some natural imperfections in the leather and the gilt on the front cover is unevenly dulled (again as always) - but otherwise book is in Fine condition in VG+ slipcase (a little discolored). Still a lovely copy! Item #68508
