The author, Annie Besant (1847–1933) was a prominent British socialist, Theosophist, women's rights activist, prolific writer and powerful orator, who became the president of the Theosophical Society and the legal guardian of Jiddu Krishnamurti, controversial "World Teacher". Owner's name and acquisition date flamboyantly written on front free endpaper, otherwise a tight, clean VG+ copy (no dust jacket - probably none issued). Item #69555
