[vi] + 172pp. White cloth spine over yellow printed papered boards, titling in brown to spine and upper board, patterned endpapers. This copy "signed" by Roerich by way of a cut signature "Best wishes! N. Roerich" (presumably clipped from a letter) affixed to the first blank, which also includes an owner's name and the date 1943. The first American edition of this volume from the works of Nicholas Roerich (1874 - 1947) the Russian painter, philosopher, writer, and traveler, renowned for his studies of Central Asia and the Himalayas and who, with his wife Helena founded the teaching "Agni Yoga". Contents include: Part I: The Heart of Asia and Part II: Shambhala. The book has clearly been read more than once and shows some general wear from handling, covers unevenly darkened, white spine a bit soiled and darkened, edges and corners chafed with corners rounded, page edges darkened, pages toned, no markings. Overall a tight, internally clean VG with Roerich's signature, and rare thus (no dust jacket called for). Item #69592
