'This is the first novel by Kenneth Grant written in late 1952 and early 1953, and for which the original typescript was thought lost for many years. A novella in the "Nightside Narratives". This work was subtitled by the author as "A Novel of Nemesis", and the story has a variety of characters who are clearly anamorphic - and thus distorted - representations of 'real life' persons in the occult circles of the time. However, as cautioned in a prefatory note by the author, "All the characters in this book exist solely in the imagination of the reader". The book was being prepared for publication at the time of Kenneth Grant's death in 2011, but did not appear until the following year. Thus it was the first of their deluxe editions to be signed only by his wife, Steffi Grant (1923-2019). From the collection of Clive Harper with his discrete book-label neatly tipped in at the rear. Harper is well-known as the bibliographer of Austin Osman Spare, for updating the Aleister Crowley bibliography in the 2011 Teitan Press collection of Gerald Yorke's writings, and as someone who has lent his expertise to numerous other publications. The label can easily be removed without affecting the page, although it would be a shame not to preserve this record of the book's provenance. Fine in Fine dust jacket and slipcase. Item #70644
