Beastly. Volume II, Number 1. Oceania Oasis.

Newtown, NSW Australia: Ordo Templi Orientis Oceania Oasis, ND (ca.1990 ev). Second Edition. Softcover. Quarto. (64pp. including wrappers). Front cover is effectively also the first page, with Contents, etc. etc. B&w illustrations. An unusual Australian publication issued by Oceania Oasis of the Ordo Templi Orientis circa 1990ev. Stated second edition (possibly a joke?!). The magazine's editor was Frater Numa, who also contributed several pieces. The contents are a real mix comprising, news, essays, an 8 page comic (at least part of which appears to be a whimsical joust at OTO headquarters in the US), serious articles on Chaos Magick and ritual, the text of a letter from Crowley to Frank Bennett, a parody of "The Book of the Law" (Liber Ale vel Lager), poetry, art, and much else of interest to Thelemites, all leavened with a good dose of iconoclastic Australian humour. Most contributors are anonymous or pseudonymous. Production values reminiscent of a punk fanzine. Some light rubbing to spine, a "leg" of each of the staples was protruding causing a scratch hazard, so we have temporarily covered them with a tiny piece of tape (barely visible and easily removed), a few small punctures through last few leaves, first and last leaves a little darkened. Still a VG or better example of a truly uncommon journal that obviously had a tiny production run. Item #71011
