The I Ching or Book of Changes [ 2 Volume Set ]; Bollingen Series XIX
New York, NY: Pantheon Books for Bollingen Foundation, 1950. First English Edition Thus. Hardcovers. Large octavos. Volume I: xliv + 398pp.; Volume II: 376pp. Original black publisher's cloth gilt-lettered on spine, Bollingen standard design in gilt to front boards. Housed in original cardboard slipcase. The first printing of the First English edition of the renowned Richard Wilhelm / Cary Baynes edition of the I Ching. A handsome production, far superior to the later editions. A bit of uneven fading to cloth of upper panel in (Vol. 1 only), and a few penciled notes on verso of rear blank endpaper ( also only Vol. 1). Pages in both Vols. a bit toned and both volumes have light rubbing to spine ends & board edges. Still a tight, and clean VG+ set, in G+ dust jackets (dust jackets are 95% intact, but are rubbed, particularly at folds which have a few small tears, and there are some chips and small tears around all edges. Vol. II price-clipped). Housed in it's orginal black cardboard slipcase - which has some chips and heavy rubbing around the edges but is basically sound. A moderately heavy set that will require additional shipping to that automatically quoted to all international and some US customers. Shipping is at cost, the - exact price dependent upon destination: the extra shipping charges will be calculated and quoted upon our receipt of your order. Quite uncommon, especially in the slip-case, which is often missing due to its relative fragility. Item #71253
