Black pressed paper boards with gilt title and line portrait of Spare to spine and cover, marbled end papers. The "standard" hardcover edition of this 3 volume set. An ASSOCIATION set, previously in the collection of Clive Harper who compiled the bibliography of Spare in Vol. I and supplied some of the rarer Spare items reproduced in the volumes. Volume II is INSCRIBED and SIGNED on the title page to Clive Harper by William Wallace, the author of the study of Spare that volume contains, and is and is additionally SIGNED by the publisher of the set, Anthony Naylor, under his printed name on the copyright page. The set comprises a spectacular collection of Spare's art and writings, heavily illustrated and with additional biographical, bibliographal, historical and critical material by Frank Letchford, Clive Harper, William Wallace, others. Two examples of the publisher's original A4 sized printed prospectus advertising the set are loosely inserted. Just a hint of light shelfwear (No dust jackets - as issued ) otherwise a lovely near Fine set and arguably almost unique thus. All issues of "From the Inferno to Zos" are out of print and are truly rare in such lovely condition - given their size and weight the volumes were frequently bumped in transit. This set was collected direct from the publisher, and many years later was carefully packed and air-freighted here on a pallet, so has never been subjected to the rigours of the postal service. It will be very carefully packed when we send it out.
