The Secret Tradition in Alchemy.
London: Stuart & Watkins, 1969. "Second Impression" Hardcover. Large octavo. xxii+ 416pp. Navy buckram with gilt title, etc. to spine, index. This 1969 "Second Impression" an exact photolithographic reprint of the 1926 first edition. It was published by Stuart & Watkins of London in cooperation with Samuel Weiser, Inc. in the US. Although not stated in the volume the print-run was only 500 copies. Waite bibliographer R. A. Gilbert observed of "The Secret Tradition in Alchemy" that: "The book has been criticized .... for rejecting a spiritual interpretation of pre-Renaissance alchemy, but it remains, ...... the only accessible study of the occult ramifications of alchemy in the 18th Century and of such odd theorists as Mrs. Atwood and General Hitchcock". (See Gilbert A39 - although he does not reference the copies with the Weiser imprint). A little bruising to the head and tail of spine, otherwise a bright, clean, near-Fine copy, in VG+ dust jacket (dust jacket spine a trifle darkened, price-clipped, now protected by removable mylar sleeve).
