The deluxe issue of the first edition of "Effigy", limited to 27 hand-numbered copies of which this is copy number 22 (there was also a standard cloth hardcover edition limited to 750 copies, 63 copies quarter-bound in leather, and - after the other issues had sold out - another deluxe issue bound up from the 22 remaining text blocks). So to be clear, this is the most deluxe issue of the first release of the volume to be made available to the public. Of the content, the Editor says: "Many years in the works and thoroughly researched, Effigy is an exhaustive compendium of image magic, viewed particularly through the lens of witchcraft, and the sorcery and folk magic of Britain. As a cartography of magical simulacra, it meticulously examines the broad range of magical effigy types, their materials and methods of construction, as well as the spells used to awaken and empower them. The whole is enriched by practical receipts taken from the author's personal notebook and arresting original images."
The limitation statement in the colophon indicates that it was intended that this full leather edition would be signed by the author, however a number of factors, not least of which the fact that author lived in the UK whilst the book was published in the USA, conspired to prevent this. Thus no copies were actually signed when issued.
Just a hint of shelf wear to the slipcase. A few small, natural flaws to the leather - obviously inevitable in a genuine leather binding - else the book appears unread and near new. A tight, clean near Fine copy. Please note that "Effigy" is a large and quite heavy book, so additional shipping and insurance charges to the amount automatically indicated at the checkout will be required.
