Edinburgh Scotland: Magnum Opus Hermetic Sourceworks, 1982. First Edition Thus. Hardcover. Octavo. (ii), 174pp. Hand-bound in series brown faux leather', gilt titling to spine, frontis. Magnum Opus Hermetic Sourceworks Series No. 15. Edition limited 250 copies hand-numbered & signed by Adam McLean, this being copy no. 208. A transcription by Adam McLean of this late 17th century manuscript (MS Harley 6482) by Thomas Rudd, which draws from the work of John Dee and others. McLean describes it as "one of the most important manuscripts in the British Library ... which includes wondrous sections of the Schemhamphoras, the hierarchies of fallen angels, rapturous Images of the Mansions of the Moon, evocation of the Nature Spirits, and John Dee's Enochian system of Angel conjuration." It is indeed a major magical text, compiled some two centuries after John Dee's death, but obviously drawing from his works. It was studied by a number of members of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn including Aleister Crowley, and remains a primary sourcework for the study of Western "angel magick." This copy is typical of the later issues of this work: it has a high number in the sequence of limitation, plain deep maroon endpapers, is printed on bright white stock, and has the title lettered down the spine reading "Angel Magic". Appears "as New" thus in Fine condition. Item #74063
