Of the text, McLean says "Massimiliano Savelli Palombara (1614-1680), Marquis of Pietraforte, came from a long established Italian aristocratic family. He was a deeply cultured individual and entertained such major intellectuals of his time as Athanasius Kircher, the astronomer Giovanni Domenico Cassini, Alfonso Borelli, and even the notorious Francesco Giuseppe Borri. He had an especial interest in alchemy and created an engaging allegory which he later presented to Queen Christina of Sweden." Appears "as New", and thus in Fine condition. Item #74076
