Original brown buckram with gilt titling to spines. Frontispieces, "illustrated with photographs, and reproductions of documents and old prints," and a fold-out map. Rubricated title-pages. The first printing of this well-regarded two-volume edition of the works of Rabelais, edited by Albert Jay Nock and Catherine Rose Wilson. Corners and spine ends a little bruised, spines lightly rubbed, endpaper hinges cracking in places but still firm. The fore-edges of the text-block are quite foxed, with a few flecks to the top edge. Internally bright and fresh. Overall a better than VG set (no dust jackets). A large heavy set that will require additional shipping to that automatically quoted, the exact amount dependent upon the destination. Item #74355
