The first printing of the University Books edition of Crowley's famous novel of addiction, magick and redemption which was originally published in 1922. This edition includes a new Foreword by Leslie Shepard (1917 - 2004), a writer, editor and film-maker, who was commissioned by University Books to edit and write new Introductions and Forewords for a number of books on magic, mysticism and mythology in the 1960s and 1970s. White boards a little yellowed as common, light bruising to spine ends, edges of text block evenly toned. A solid, tight, bright, clean, and unmarked, VG+ copy in about VG+ dust jacket (largely white dust jacket a trifle darkened, a touch of creasing to the edges. Not price-clipped.
