Red Flame, a Thelemic Research Journal. Issue No. 8: LIBER AL VEL LEGIS [ The Book of the Law ].
Berkeley CA: Privately Printed [ J. Edward and Marlene Cornelius ], 2000. First Edition. Softcover. Quarto. viii + 210pp + ivpp. Original series red textured wrappers illustrated and titled in black. The first edition of the eighth number of this important work of Thelemic research, limited to 156 copies. Red Flame No. 8 was one of the most sought after issues, as it offers a detailed (and sometimes controversial and sometimes humorous!) study & examination of Crowley's "Book of the Law."
The author, the late J. Edward Cornelius (1951-2023 ) ( aka Frater Achad Osher 583 ) was born in Connecticut and became a student of Crowley's works in the late 1960s. After initiating a correspondence with Grady Louis McMurtry ( Frater Hymenaeus Alpha 777: 1918-1985 ), then head of the Ordo Templi Orientis, he joined that Order. Cornelius was a prolific writer, publisher, and lecturer on magical subjects, as well as an editor & a primary author of this highly-regarded journal. Just a hint of shelf wear, spine very lightly faded (as common), a hint of rubbing to edges corners and spine ends, internally bright & fresh with no markings. Overall a tight, clean VG+ copy.
