London: Mandrake Press & Holmes Publishing, 1992. Limited Edition. Softcovers. 6 Volume Set, complete. Small Thick Quartos. Vol. I, Nos I & II, III & IV, V & VI, VII & VIII, IX & X in yellow glossy wrappers. Volume III No. I is bound in blue glossy wrappers. Approx 4840 pages in total. A complete set of a facsimile edition of the ten numbers which make up the first series (or 'volume') of The Equinox, and the first number (all issued thus) of the third series (the second series commonly described as "volume of silence." Volume I Nos. I - X were originally published biannually between 1909 & 1913 and Vol III No. I in 1919. Crowley was the editor and main author of "The Equinox," which contained a variety of poetry, fiction, and reviews - generally with esoteric themes - alongside a number of articles of occult instruction. Each issue of Volume I, Nos. I - X was originally issued as a single volume, here they have been reproduced at two issues per Volume. Ironically this and the hardbound issues of the same set were the first true facsimiles of "The Equinox" Volume I, Nos. I - X, being reprinted directly from a set of the first edition, whereas the various Weiser reprints had a considerable number of alterations made (primarily to the advertisments, but also to some reviews etc.). As far as is known less than 200 sets of this edition were made. This set is from the collection of Clive Harper, and is inscribed to Harper by publisher the late Tony Naylor on the first blank of the first volume "To Clive Harper with thanks for support and encouragement with my many projects.Tony Naylor" - and again on the first blank in the final "Blue" volume in this set: "From Clive Harper from Tony Naylor, August '92. Harper is well- known as the bibliographer of Austin Osman Spare, for updating the Aleister Crowley bibliography in the 2011 Teitan Press collection of Gerald Yorke's writings, and as someone who has lent his expertise to numerous other publications. A lovely clean near-Fine copy. A hint of shelfwear, else appears "as New". A lovely set. Quite scarce given the small number of copies printed and the fact that the binding was not particularly robust - it had a tendency to shed pages if not carefully handled. A very large, heavy set - additional shipping will be required with price varying according to destination and mode of transport selected. Item #74685
