Fulcanelli Master Alchemist: Le Mystère des Cathédrales. Esoteric Interpretation of the Hermetic Symbols of the Great Work.

London: Neville Spearman, 1971. First Edition. Hardcover. Large octavo. 192pp. Original cloth with gilt title, etc. to spine, b&w frontispiece, color and b&w plates and illustrations, index. The identity of the master alchemist who wrote under the pseudonym of Fulcanelli is still the subject of debate, but he is commonly regarded as one of the small number of genuine alchemical practitioners of the twentieth century, and perhaps one of the even smaller number about whom it has been claimed - with some chance of credibility - to have succeeded in accomplishing the Great Work. This particular work is his study of the hermetic instruction he felt was embodied in the structure of Gothic cathedrals. A little leaned, and with a light crease to spine, which also has a touch of bruising to its head and tail. Edges of text block darkened and flecked, else a tight, unmarked VG copy in Good dust jacket (Dust jacket is complete - but quite rubbed, chafed and lightly chipped at all edges, folds and extremities. Not price clipped, and now protected by removable mylar cover). Scarce. Item #74781
